ACTIVITIES

• GR/EU Projects: National collaboration and innovative scientific research are essential inorder to improve the treatment of children with cancer. Therefore HESPHO actively supportsits community, implementing the national standards of care for children with malignanciesand supporting the participation of the members in clinical trials and internationalcollaborations.
• Advocacy: within the EU panorama, HESPHO engages with stakeholders, policy-makers andthe European Union in order to shape the future hellenic health and research policyEducational opportunities: HESPHO is working to train the new generation of competentprofessionals offering various types and levels of education and offering trainingopportunities within its community
• Communication: We disseminate relevant information for all our members and engageresearch collaborations encouraging the cross-border exchange of best practice. At the sametime, HeSPHO aims at public awareness and up-to-date information, particularly in relationto issues regarding prevention and treatment of the diseases, taking advantage of all theavailable sources.
• Parents and patients: we actively try to create and preserve strong partnerships with theadvocates of parents and patient groups, encouraging initiatives regarding psycho-social support of patients and their families.

• Education
  We promote and offer different types of education and training opportunities to paediatriconcology professionals. These learning opportunities supported are of interest for health professionals, medical students and parent and patient representatives. Among the educational initiatives organised and showcased by HESPHO are:
  – HESPHO Annual National Meeting
  – Webinars held weekly with the active participation of all the Departments of Pediatric
  Hematology / Oncology in Greece

HESPO constantly promotes the public awareness regarding the prevention and treatment as well as the socio-economic burden of caner and hematological diseases in children. Moreover we encourage the participation in the donation of blood, bone marrow and cord blood.
